Nettie

Nettie is coming home! I found out that Nettie is coming home today. She is going to marry Samuel and come back to America. She told me she is going to bring home my babies too. I cannot wait. I will finally have my sister back.

Moving

I am moving to Tennessee. Shug and I are moving there together. Mr___ is not too happy about this but Shug and I have never been more excited. I found out Squeak is coming too. Hopefully I get to see Nettie. Don't worry anyone I will be back to visit Georgia again.

The Best News

Today I found out that Nettie is not dead. Shug showed me where the letters were. Mr___ had been hiding them the whole time. They were in a trunk. I found out she moved to Africa and met a family. I have never been so happy to hear this news. I am very upset with Mr___ though. Sometimes it's hard for me not to think about killing him. I am so glad that Shug and I are friends. I don't know how I would survive without her.

Recently Shug and I have gotten closer. She isn't as bad as I thought she was. She is amazing. She reminds me of my mother. She doesn't let any man dominate her. She is her own person. When she got sick the other day I helped her and ever since shes been helping me. She is teaching me how to stick up for myself against Mr___, and how to be my own person. She is my friend.

Today I met this women named Shug. She is Mr____'s love. She is beautiful and can sing very well. She is very rude though. She dresses very scantily. I heard that she has "a nasty women disease". She thinks I am ugly just like everyone else. Hopefully she doesn't stay for too long.

Fight back?

I've been abused by Mr___ a lot. His sister Kate came to visit. I was told by Mr___'s sister to fight back. She told me to not put up with his abuse. I need some advice on what to do. Should I fight back? Or should I just let him do it?

Missing

Hi everyone,
I live with my husband Mr___ and my sister came to live with us today. Mr___ tried to make advances toward my sister. She didn't like that very much and ran away. I don't know where she is and I have been told that she is dead. I really hope that this is not true because she is all I have. If anyone sees her please let me know. Thanks,

I thought that this book was good. It was believable and it drew me in. It was not a boring book. It had a lot of action in it. I liked how it was a diary formatted book. It was easy to read besides the dialogue. I like how you can feel for the characters. It gives you an insight into the characters which makes the book easier to read.

summary

The main character Celie lives in Georgia with her family. Celie and Nettie's dad rapes and abuses Celie. He got her pregnant twice and stole both of the children after their birth. A man named Mr_wants to marry Nettie but her dad won't let her so he gives Celie to him instead. Nettie runs away from home and goes to Celie's house. Mr_ makes advances towards Nettie and she runs away. Celie doesn't hear from Nettie and thinks she is dead. Mr_ has another love named Shug. Celie and Shug meet after Shug gets sick and stays with Mr_. Shug and Celie begin a sexual relationship. Shug shows Celie letters from her sister Nettie and finds out she is not dead, but in Africa with her family. After becoming close Shug and Celie decide to move to Tennessee. When Celie comes back on visits she starts to enjoy Mr_'s company. Nettie and her new family move back to America.
